Hard Water | Your water loaded with magnesium and Calcium
Hard water is first on my list. Our water is loaded with calcium and magnesium. When sprinklers hit the glass, minerals stick and the afternoon heat bakes them on. Over time, they start etching the glass. Tiny scratches form. If you’ve ever seen a corroded bathroom faucet you know what to expect.
I do a lot of hard water removal.. I use the right products, and the right technique so glass gets restored without damage. If you want help, call me at (435) 879‑1239.
Dust and mud storms | Add light rain sprinkles to high winds you get muddy windows
Our dirt is filled with iron oxide. Because of the color, the dirt shows easily, whatever it gets on.
Washington Fields gets it worse on windy days. They get the same mud storms that happen here every once in a while.
No worries, we’ve cleaned many dozens of windows covered with mud spots.

How much do you actually care about cleaning windows?
I went to a friend’s house recently and found everything in her place felt pretty clean. Not just the obvious spots, but the small things people usually skip, such as the cabinet doors, the area around the door handle, corners near the sink and the mat, almost all spotless. And when I walked into the bathroom, I saw the mirrors and shower glass were all clean. The window glass outside too, no streaks or any dusty film. It’s the kind of thing you barely notice, but when you happen to glance at the window, seeing it completely clear really makes a difference.
While chatting, I asked her how she keeps her place so clean. She told me that if I want a place to feel clean, just cleaning the floors and furniture isn’t enough. Windows usually matter more than I realize, and clear glass can really change the vibe of a room. She also mentioned she uses a window cleaning robot, said it helps a lot with regular maintenance.
That got me thinking as I barely ever clean my windows. I checked my glass door later back home and found a thin layer of dust. It wasn’t obvious until I wiped it down, but the difference was real and noticeable, the whole place just feels fresher. I’m curious how many of you really care about window cleaning? Or do you just ignore them most of the time like I do?
Answer: Intermittent_Leave “Growing up we cleaned windows for every holiday of the year. I tried to do that living in Texas and I gave up because the dust doesn’t care. We do it maybe four times a year. Of course the inside gets clean at least once every two months.”
Answer: Annie_Dearest “I did the kitchen window two weeks ago, took 10 minutes and made a big difference. I did the living room windows last weekend, took 20 minutes and made a big difference. Chipping away at it like that makes it much more manageable!”

Cleaning windows in 100+ degrees
Water evaporates quickly in 100+ degrees. If you’re doing it yourself, work in the shade. Or early morning. If I have windows that are really hot (it’s hot out and they face the sun) I will cool the window with a spray of water before washing them.
This happened to me: I was washing windows in Washington. I had the hose on but not too high. I noticed a large toad sitting on the sidewalk in a bit of water. He seemed to be there for the water so I gave him a light spray of water. If I get too hot, I might do the same for me while I’m outside.
How we do high / tall window cleaning
Newer and larger homes have big windows. Kayenta, Stone Cliff, as well as other neighborhoods. Massive glass walls, vaulted ceilings, and second-story windows offer spectacular views.
I start with a scrubber then a squeegee using filtered water. I use a water fed pole system for very high exterior windows. Once a high window is clean and rinsed with the pure water it dries spot-free, even in direct sunlight.
How often should you have your St. George windows cleaned?
How often you want exterior window cleaning done is a personal choice. Most people have their outside windows cleaned twice a year and their inside windows cleaned yearly.
